MADISON — Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer commented Thursday regarding the loss of 12,000 private sector jobs in July.
“It doesn’t surprise me that employers didn’t hire or even scaled back in July in the heat of the recall campaigns, which caused so much uncertainty in the marketplace. That uncertainty wasn’t the only factor in hiring decisions, but it clearly didn’t help matters. We need to restore civility and stability in our government in Wisconsin. The good news is that overall, Wisconsin has created thousands of new jobs during the course of this year. And, our family-supporting manufacturing sector is coming back. It’s time for the Legislature to get back to work at job creation.”
