WMC supports the passage of Senate Bill 448 and Assembly Bill 587, relating to income and franchise tax credits to employers who offer apprenticeships. WMC believes apprenticeship opportunities can be a significant component in our efforts to create a skilled workforce. This bill will give employers an incentive to take on apprentices, which in turn will provide more opportunities for apprentices to be properly trained and educated in the skilled trades. The Senate Bill received a public hearing on February 22 and the Assembly Bill received a public hearing March 1.
