New EPA Ozone Rules Will Kill Wisconsin Jobs

MADISON – A newly released Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulation on ozone emissions will kill Wisconsin jobs and cost our state’s economy billions of dollars, WMC said Thursday.  WMC is the state’s chamber of commerce.
WMC Vice President of Government Relations Scott Manley said:
“Today the EPA unveiled what is likely to be the most expensive federal regulation in history, despite the fact that our air is cleaner today than it has been in generations. The new ozone regulations will hit Wisconsin especially hard, placing many areas of our state into a ‘no grow’ zone for middle-class manufacturing jobs. The rule is projected to kill thousands of jobs per year in Wisconsin alone, and will hit consumers with billions of dollars in higher energy costs. Wisconsin families simply cannot afford to bear the extraordinary expense of this devastating rule.”
