How they’re growing: Roastar, which was formerly known as Planet Label LLC, was established in 2001 in Georgia as an online blank label stock distributor. As the company grew, it began to produce custom labels and acquired new printing capacity, eventually developing the ability to print flexible packaging materials. The company moved its operation in 2008 from Georgia to Wausau, and in 2011, the company branded its flexible packaging materials in the form of a coffee bag, known as Roastar. ln 2015, the company legally changed the name of Planet Label to Roastar lnc.
The company is ready to grow again and is investing nearly $3 million in new machinery and equipment to grow their capacity and meet the needs of their niche market. The company is expected to add 36 new jobs as a result of the expansion, which would bring its total workforce in Wausau to 83 employees.
