Courageous Leaders Fight for Job Creation
Madison – In Wisconsin, 82 legislators consistently stood up for jobs in the most recent legislative session, voting for tax cuts, regulation relief, lawsuit reform and other pro-growth policies such as Right to Work, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) announced today.
WMC, the state’s chamber of commerce, is presenting these lawmakers with the prestigious “Working for Wisconsin” award for supporting pro-jobs legislation on at least 80 percent of key votes for job creators. WMC has released “How They Voted,” a legislative scorecard for pro-business votes in the 2015-2016 legislative session.
“Wisconsin is very fortunate to have a pro-jobs Legislature to pass tax cuts, regulation relief, lawsuit reform and Right to Work to improve our business climate,” said Kurt R. Bauer, WMC President/CEO. “Every WMC Working for Wisconsin award winner is a courageous leader for jobs for our families.”
In total, 65 award-winning lawmakers had 100 percent voting records on the WMC scorecard, said Scott Manley, WMC Senior Vice President of Government Relations. WMC’s public policy team analyzes the key votes affecting industry to create the scorecard. The analysis is based solely on the actual voting records, irrespective of partisan affiliation.
“At WMC, we have conducted a quantitative review of all of the key votes for job creators, and these lawmakers are at the top when it comes to making Wisconsin a better state for businesses to create jobs,” Manley said. “In this session, the Legislature took the historic step of passing Right to Work and that’s a huge development for our competitiveness in terms of being able to attract high-wage manufacturing jobs.”
Wisconsin has witnessed three consecutive legislative sessions dedicated to passing pro-jobs reforms that have been signed by Governor Scott Walker. “We are living in an historic era,” Bauer said. “Job creation has been at the top of the agenda for lawmakers, and that’s as it should be.”
