Company: Gamber-Johnson LLC
Location: Stevens Point (Portage County)
Founded in: 1954
What they do: A leading supplier of vehicle laptop mounts, docking stations, printer mounts, forklift laptop mounts and vehicle mounting components for law enforcement workers and other first responders, as well as those in the telecommunications, and oil and gas industries, and the military.
How they’re growing: In 2011, Gamber-Johnson began to notice a global trend in its products but had not yet developed an international growth strategy to address this market. Increases in revenues due to overseas sales led the company’s management team to initiate an international growth strategy that began with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s ExporTech program, which helps small- to mid- size manufacturers rapidly develop and execute a successful export strategy. Since taking part in the program in 2012 and implementing the exporting strategy, Gamber-Johnson has seen a significant increase in sales that it attributes directly to ExporTech. The company received additional assistance from WEDC in initiating its plan, including International Market Access Grants, State Trade and Export Promotion funding as well as overseas market intelligence to help inform the company’s international growth strategy.
What they’re saying: “For us, exporting never ends. It has become a critical aspect of our growth strategy, and thanks to resources like WEDC it was easier to initiate an export plan.” – Gautam Malik, Director of Operations, Gamber-Johnson
A Success Story: Gamber-Johnson LLC
