WMC Registers Support for Bills to Combat Retail Theft

WMC registered its support for Assembly Bill 827 and 829 this legislative session. These bills were introduced to combat the increase in retail theft seen across the county and in Wisconsin. The legislation would increase the penalty for theft by aggregating the dollar value of items stolen when working in concert with five or more individuals, as well as requiring mandatory 180 day minimum sentence for a third conviction of retail theft within 10 years. WMC is supporting the legislation in an effort to discourage crime and improve safety in Wisconsin communities.
