WMC’s Senior Director of Workforce, Education and Employment Policy Rachel Ver Velde testified in support of AB 549 and AB 550, relating to technical education equipment grants and grants for technical college manufacturing programs.
These pieces of legislation would help promote and expand access to manufacturing programs for students, which would in turn help manufacturers find trained employees to fill needed positions. Ensuring training for students exposes them to opportunities within the industry and equips them to excel in skilled roles.
Many manufacturers also testified or submitted written testimony in support of the legislation package.
