WMC Launches Nominations for Business Friend of the Environment Awards Program

MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the combined state chamber and manufacturers’ association – opened nominations for its annual Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Awards Program. The program, sponsored by WM, seeks to demonstrate to state policymakers and the public that Wisconsin businesses are leading the way in sound environmental practices.

“Wisconsin businesses understand the inherent value of responsible environmental practices,” said Adam Jordahl, WMC’s Director of Environmental & Energy Policy. “I’m proud of their efforts and look forward to recognizing those companies that have gone above and beyond industry standards or regulatory requirements.”

Private companies that demonstrate sound environmental leadership are encouraged to apply. Eligible applicants must be headquartered or have significant operations in Wisconsin. Successful applicants will demonstrate that, during calendar 2024, they undertook or completed a significant improvement in one of three areas: sustainability, environmental stewardship, or environmental innovation.

“For 35 years and counting, this program has shown how industry leaders are also leading the way on the environment,” continued Jordahl. “Thank you to WM for continuing to sponsor this longstanding award.”

The winners of the 35th Annual Business Friend of the Environment Award will be selected by a panel of independent judges representing the business community, government, and environmental nonprofits. Applications are due June 13, 2025.
