Wisconsin Manufacturing Month: Video Highlights Opportunity for Women

MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce released its third video this week in a series that promotes Manufacturing Month and the rewarding careers available in the industry. The theme for week three of Manufacturing Month is Women in Manufacturing.
“One of the reasons it is so important for women to get into manufacturing is because this is where the growth is happening and where the opportunities are,” says Rebekah Kowalski, Vice President of Workforce Strategy and Solution Integration at Right Management, in the video.
The video focuses on the tremendous amount of opportunities available to women in manufacturing and features 18-year-old welder Ella Johnson, who recently earned her welding certificate from Waukesha County Technical College at the same time she was graduating high school.
“Women can be great leaders,” Johnson says in the video. “There have been many great leaders in past history doing things that don’t go with what society wants. They stand out and make sure their voice is heard.”

WMC will release a new video each week of Wisconsin Manufacturing Month. The first video focused on the importance of vocational education and the state’s technical colleges, while the second video showcased the high-tech, advanced manufacturing already happening in Wisconsin.
