Wisconsin Safety Council Hires New Executive Director

MADISON – The Wisconsin Safety Council (WSC) – the state’s leading provider of safety training services and products – announced on Tuesday that Janet Metzger is the organization’s new Executive Director.
Metzger joins WSC after a long career in sales management and leadership roles. Most recently, she was the Strategic Account Executive for Global Industrial, a leading supplier of material handling equipment, safety equipment and other items. Prior to that, she was the Regional Director of Sales at HD Supply Inc., one of the largest industrial distributors in the country.
WSC holds an annual conference in April with over 200 safety exhibitors and 60-plus training breakout sessions. The Council also hosts more than 100 safety programs throughout the year and provides customized, on-site trainings for members. WSC is the Wisconsin affiliate of the National Safety Council (NSC) and a program of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC).
“We are so excited to have Janet join our team,” said WMC Vice President of Operations and Finance Katie Yuetter. “Her experience and drive will help us to expand the awareness of WSC and ensure a prosperous future for the organization.”
Metzger will work with local safety professionals and experts from NSC to further improve the programs and services offered by WSC. To get a head start, she attended the 2017 NSC Congress & Expo in late September to learn best practices and connect with the leadership teams at other Safety Councils around the country.
Her first day was Monday, Oct. 16.
