Tori Whiting – the host of today’s podcast is a Research Associate in The Heritage Foundation’s Center for International Trade and Economics. Whiting discussed trade, exports, Foxconn and Tax Reform.
Whiting highlighted the importance of trade and how it’s a contributing factor allowing businesses to flourish and grow. Whiting adds that it’s not just big businesses that are playing a large role in exportation, “90% of those exports come from small and medium-sized businesses.”
WMC Vice President of Government Relations, Scott Manley posed the question, “What is the impact of international trade on Wisconsin’s economy?” Whiting addressed the question by stating, “Wisconsin’s biggest trade partner is Canada with $6 billion in exports. In addition, Mexico ranked number 2 with $3 billion. Whiting went on to say that NAFTA could use some updates which it has not seen in over 20 years.”
