WMC Releases Latest Two-Minute Drill: Wetland Reform

 
MADISON – The federal Clean Water Act established extensive regulations to protect important wetlands throughout the country. Wisconsin law, however, goes even further. The State of Wisconsin regulates additional wetlands, including those that are not connected to navigable waters.
The state-specific permitting process for these non-federal wetlands is cumbersome and can result in significant project delays and added costs, even though the overwhelming majority of these projects are approved. Legislation now pending before the Legislature will make sure we can protect our environment and maintain high quality wetlands without costly and burdensome state-specific regulations.
