WMC Statement on the 2017-19 Wisconsin State Budget

MADISON – Gov. Scott Walker signed the 2017-19 state budget on Thursday, issuing 98 vetoes to the version passed by the Assembly and Senate. After Walker signed the budget in Neenah, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer released the following statement:
“WMC and our members want to thank Gov. Walker, Senate Majority Leader Fitzgerald, Speaker Vos and legislators for working together to get this budget passed and signed into law. The final product is one that moves our state forward.
“While we appreciate the efforts of the legislature to improve upon the budget as introduced, we thank Gov. Walker for using his veto pen to make the budget even better. We also commend policymakers for eliminating the state portion of the property tax, eliminating the alternative minimum tax and reducing the personal property tax.
“With the budget behind us, that does not mean the work to improve Wisconsin’s business climate is over – far from it. We look forward to working with the governor and legislators this fall and spring to pass a number of important policy reforms before the session ends.”
