WMC Urges WEDC’s Critics to Allow Agency to Implement Change

MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), the state’s chamber of commerce, called on the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to continue its statewide role in pressing for economic development in our state.

WMC President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer said:

“WEDC needs to be allowed to focus on its incredibly valuable function of expanding job opportunities free of the constant and politically motivated attacks. I hope WEDC’s critics grant its new CEO/Secretary the time he needs to implement change. We need to let the WEDC continue its good work and move forward.”

Bauer’s comments came in reaction to a draft report about WEDC from the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness. WMC will review the final report and provide further comment in the near future.
