This week WMC Director of Environmental and Energy Policy Craig Summerfield, delivered remarks to the DNR in support of the proposed relocation of the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline in northern Wisconsin. Wisconsin’s business community depends on access to affordable and reliable energy, and maintaining energy infrastructure like Line 5 is a key component of that. The project is expected to provide 700 family-sustaining construction jobs and add $135 million in direct and indirect economic activity.
The Wisconsin DNR is currently accepting written public comment on its draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) until Friday, March 18. Approval of a final EIS is a necessary step to move the project forward.
