WMC joined over 200 companies in calling on Congress to pass a robust Miscellaneous Tariff Bill in pending legislation. Since the previous Miscellaneous Tariff Bill expired on December 31, 2020, manufacturers and other businesses in the U.S. have paid more than $500 million in tariffs, or $1.3 million per day, on goods that are not available in the U.S.
These tariffs are anti-competitive costs that are stifling small and medium-sized businesses in the U.S. Including a Miscellaneous Tariff Bill in the United States Innovation and Competition Act and the America COMPETES Act would provide full retroactivity to allow manufacturers and other businesses to be reimbursed for tariffs paid on shipments of MTB products.
