Wisconsin Manufacturing Month: Video Highlights High-Tech Industry

MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) released its second video on Monday in a series that promotes Manufacturing Month and the rewarding careers available in the industry. The theme for week two of Manufacturing Month is High-Tech Manufacturing.
“They are not your father’s manufacturing jobs,” says Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch in this week’s video. “They are tremendously high paying and the jobs take place in clean environments.”
The WMC video shows the bright, clean and technology-filled floor of the John Deere Horicon Works facility. Specifically, the video highlights John Deere’s use of robots that automatically drive from stop to stop on the assembly line after learning the map of the factory.
“Manufacturing is no longer the stereotype of dark, dirty and dangerous,” remarked WMC President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer. “Manufacturing jobs are high-tech, high-skill and high-paying. That is what this video is all about.”

WMC will release a new video each week of Wisconsin Manufacturing Month. The first video focused on the importance of vocational education and the state’s technical colleges.
