Evan Umpir Joins WMC as Director of Tax, Transportation & Legal Affairs

MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the combined state chamber and manufacturers’ association – announced Friday that Evan Umpir joined the organization as its new Director of Tax, Transportation & Legal Affairs. Umpir has years of experience specializing in state and federal policy.

“We’re excited for both the legal knowledge and policy experience that Evan will bring to the team,” said WMC Executive Vice President of Government Relations Scott Manley. “Evan’s extensive experience in state and federal government will make him a great advocate on behalf of WMC members.”

Umpir most recently served as a legislative affairs specialist within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, a position he served in since March 2020. Prior to that, he held various roles in the Wisconsin State Legislature and Congress.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be back home in Wisconsin working on behalf of the state’s business community,” added Umpir. “I can’t wait to help WMC make Wisconsin one of the best places in the country to do business.”

Umpir earned his bachelor’s degree in political science at Marquette University. He went on to earn his law degree at the University of Wisconsin Law School.
