Senator Glenn Grothman Receives Exemplar Award

Award Recognizes Exemplary Public Policy Initiative in Support of Manufacturing
MILWAUKEE – Senator Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend) received the WMC “Exemplar Award” for spearheading the most exemplary public policy initiative in support of manufacturing in more than 35 years – the establishment of a manufacturers income tax credit.
Senator Grothman developed and pushed this initiative through the Legislature and on to Governor Walker’s desk. Walker signed that income tax credit into law. It virtually eliminates income taxes for income derived from Wisconsin-based manufacturing.
The award was presented at the prestigious Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year awards banquet, held last Thursday night at The Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.
James Buchen, WMC Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, presented the award to Grothman and made the following comments:
“Senator Grothman’s tremendous accomplishment will cement Wisconsin’s position as a center for manufacturing for years to come and in the process ensure that there will continue to be a ready supply of good paying manufacturing jobs for our families, our communities and Wisconsin’s future.
The award recognizes the most exemplary public policy initiative in support of manufacturing in more than 35 years – the establishment of a manufacturers income tax credit that will virtually wipe out personal and corporate taxes on income derived from manufacturing production in Wisconsin.
This policy initiative was intended to enhance the competitiveness of all Wisconsin manufacturing companies as they compete in national and global markets – and it was the brain child of Senator Glenn Grothman.”
The accounting and advisory firm of Baker Tilly, the law firm of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, and the business association Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce sponsor the Manufacturer of the Year awards program. Additional information regarding the awards program can be found online.
