WMC Responds to Evers’ Budget

MADISON – On Tuesday, Governor Evers proposed his budget for the upcoming two years. Evers’ plan would include tax hikes on manufacturers and a significant increase in government spending. In response to the proposed budget, Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce’s Scott Manley released the following statement:

“Governor Evers’ budget is an attack on small businesses, manufacturing, and the middle class. He proposes to tax manufacturing production in Wisconsin at a time when we need to produce more goods within our borders. He also proposes to increase the personal income tax paid primarily by small businesses, despite a $4 billion budget surplus, in order to fuel a reckless twenty-percent increase in government spending. Taxing small businesses and family-supporting manufacturing jobs is the exact opposite of what Wisconsin needs to do to ease the financial burden on families. WMC looks forward to working with lawmakers to reject these misguided proposals, and instead enact tax reforms that will make Wisconsin more competitive and prosperous.”
