WMC Releases Employer Survey

Businesses from across the state were asked about the economy, and what they deal with on the job, and now, the WMC is letting the public know what they found.

The numbers from the survey don’t exactly show the best news for the state’s economy. They found that only 23% of businesses say that the state’s economy is doing well, and 3/5 of them expect it will either stay as it is, or decline over the next six months.

Nick Novak with Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, who hosted the study, says the biggest concern is just how much everything costs to keep the lights on.

Novak said, “There’s no doubt that higher costs are really putting a strain on our economy here in Wisconsin. About 3/5 of Wisconsin employers said that over the last few years, they’ve seen costs increase by more than 20%.”

He said that a lot of these concerns reflect national concerns about inflation and workforce shortages, but Novak did say that fewer businesses are facing those shortages.
